<<- This is Abby. She is lovely, and I have had the great pleasure of getting to know her and being able to call her one of my closest friends. We have funny jokes and like to say "perfecto!" and spill blueberry smoothies together. Her heart is full of love for others, and she does it really well. She radiates excitement, and she makes me feel light inside. She's not afraid to do what she thinks is right. In fact, I don't think she's afraid of much.
Tomorrow, Abby is going on an adventure. She is making the trek over to the land of Colombia for quite a few months, to speak Spanish with real Spanish speaking people, and to love on children, and to serve Jesus. I've been able to be around her while she describes her excitement for going, and her joy in going back to a place she loves.
It's really neat, I think, to be able to watch someone have their heart filled. And while I wont be able to be with her on this amazing adventure, I know that I will be able to watch her grow in love, have her heart filled to overflowing. Because that's what Jesus does for his children. He knows the desires of our hearts (woah, what? that's so cool.) and he wants us to glorify him by living out those desires. He has given Abby a beautiful heart for serving him in Spanish speaking countries, working with children and teaching them English. He has given her a natural gift for communicating with others and loving them for who they are. And above all, he has filled Abby with a joy that is overflowing and that will flow out to bless others. I just think that's really neat.
And so, off she goes. Off to find out more about this world, more about the beauty of exploration and life, and more about the freedom that comes from living a life pursing her Creator. I love this girl. And though I'll miss her (like crazy), I think what's infinitely more important will hearing her stories. Listening to her tell me and others about how Jesus is transforming her heart. Because it is evident that He's got big plans for her and her bold, brave, seeking, adventuring, fearless, beautiful, true heart.
Te amo, Abby.
