So rock on, friends. And cherish your bed each night- it's a privilege.
my cozy warm bed i'm really thankful for my little bed in my dorm room. because there are warm blankets there, a cow stuffed animal, warm lights (you know how i feel about warm lights), and plenty of room for me to sit and eat oatmeal and drink tea. so i'm giving thanks for this little piece of my daily routine that makes me smile. sidenote: i have decided to rename the "beautiful things" series to this: gratitude. i realized that the beautiful things that i was wanting to take pictures of and share were less the things me and elsa talk about at night before we go to bed, and more just the simple, little things that get me through the day with a smile on my face. if we're being honest, it is also really hard to make a post a day when you've got a million other places to be- so i was also feeling a bit guilty about that. i still plan on doing something with the beautiful things, because I think it is too great not to share with everyone, but that will be about different stuff. Because while my bed is beautiful in a way, there are even more beautiful things that I hope to share with you in the future.
So rock on, friends. And cherish your bed each night- it's a privilege.

I am a member of the concert choir here at Eau Claire, and this semester we are singing this song- Alleluia, by Eric Whitacre, an incredible composer. This song only repeats one word over and over- yep, you guessed it, alleluia. No matter what you are doing right now, I encourage you to press play on this video, and listen. It is without a doubt one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and will have the privilege to sing. So give it a listen.

First, I must apologize for the rather unorganized way that this blog has looked lately. You see, I've been wanting to change things up for while, but unable to put my finger on how exactly to go about it.
Then, a few days ago, I stumbled across a letter from one of my dearest friends. At the end of that letter, it read these words. "Be loved and enjoyed. Keep letting the Lord bless you in big ways by the smallest things. It's the best way to live- seeing small." And that just really seemed to hit me, because isn't that what this whole blog of mine isn't about? I write about the simple, small things that affect me, and the beautiful things in life. So I got thinking, and hit lots of roadblocks again. (Some of those roadblocks were infact, homework. Bleh.) But some wise words from my friend Alexi reminded me that, while this blog is on the internet because I want to share this with others, it's really just a really cool, beautiful way for me to display my love for God in a creative way. I must say it is a bit of a tug at my heart to rid of the old name, LayMeDown, because it is such a beautiful description of the way I desire to live. But as I sat on my little purple couch contemplating blog life (not doing homework), I realized that seeing small means the same thing as lay me down. Both describe the way that beauty effects me, the way that becoming simpler gives way to a much more intricate view of life, and ultimately the way that I desire to seek Jesus more and more every day. I hope that you will join me in discovering more about the adventure that lies before us here on this earth, because I am pretty darn pumped. So here's to living simpler, loving deeper, and seeing smaller. hand-me-down (borrowed) boots These boots were "given" to me by my beautiful friend, Brianna, who is letting me wear them while she is gone in Sweden this semester. She knows my infinite love for them and their quirky style and the way that they just make me want to go adventuring.
Wow, hello! I have to admit, I've had quite a bloggers block, unable to think of anything very interesting to post. I've also been in constant motion for about 2 weeks, traveling to and fro and doing some singing and such. But I'm coming back! Hooray! In order to keep myself in line, I'm starting up another little series. So let me tell you about it. This little series on gratitude is just gonna be pictures of things that really get me through my day with a smile on my face. Like I said, the small things are my favorite kinds of things- so whenever one comes along I hope to document it and share it with you. And it will help me to seek the things that I take for granted each day. So here's to it! Mom's homemade oatmeal raisin cookies my mom sent these absolutely delicious cookies to me, and i'm not sure if any cookie could ever beat them. today i enjoyed one with a cup of coffee, billie holiday, and a cozy blanket.
note: i have WAY too many extra of these cookies, so if you're craving a good cookie, come find me. This past week my mom celebrate her 60th birthday.. to celebrate her life I interviewed all 6 of my nieces and nephews and asked them to share why they love her. So give it a watch if you wish... I promise it will bring you a smile! Their hearts are pure as gold. Love from The Littles from Holland Kabat on Vimeo. winter boots
