sometimes, it's evident to me how human we all are
sometimes, i feel like the farthest place i could run to isn't far enough sometimes, it takes our unrighteousness to show me the righteousness of God sometimes, broken places are hard sometimes, the answers to my questions aren't evident, and it frustrates me all the time, God is faithful all the time, God believes in justice and love all the time, he wants us to believe in justice and love too for He is greater. Let me preface with this: my dad is the greatest singing partner of all time. He would say the same of his own mother- they used to sing together quite almost every day. Since then, he and I have taken the reigns, and singing with my dad is one of my favorite ways to spend my time. A few years ago, we started posting song every Christmas, just because singing at Christmas is so joyful, and Christmas is a great time to spread joy (although I suppose all the time is a great time to spread joy, right? anyways). Since then we've done some Easter songs, or we just sing whatever song is on our hearts or minds. Lately we've been messing around on the guitar, singing whatever songs fit the chords, and one day my dad started singing some Beatles. The end result was I've Just Seen a Face, one of my and his personal favorites. So... check it out, sing along, whatever your heart desires! Disclaimer: These videos of us singing aren't recorded for personal gain, for a large number of views, or to join the popular movement of youtube singers. We simply find joy in singing together. We do this so that we can have these moments of joy recorded, and that others may share in our joy. So be joyful today, friends! PS: This was filmed by my wonderful and beautiful mother. She rocks. Hello friends! Today is a small, but special little day to me, meaning that it marks a whole month that I've been with that cute guy in the picture above. His name is Adam, and he's quite a blessing. Here's why: he is a great steering wheel drummer his gifts are small in the best way he remembers more about people than anyone I know he is willing to serve, always his heart is gentle and teaches me to be more gentle he bought me a stinkin' plant he loves rain almost as much as i do. (almost.) he also loves Duluth and the northwoods he teaches me about how God is big and yet pursues us deeply he loves Jenna and Coral a lot he also loves Ryan Reisner a lot he is quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry his parents are his favorite people he's darn punny he dances with me, though I know he hates it he loves hymns, and the Oh Hello's, and Sleeping at Last he let me acknowledge my fears, but not remain in them he loves the stars and the one who created them What's neat about that list of things is that they do not bless me only, but all people Adam comes in contact with. At first I was wary and not so quick to write this post, primarily because I am afraid of public attention concerning my private life. But then I realized that Adam is not mine to keep for myself, and the world (or the small number of people that read this blog) deserves to know him also. This past month has been one of incredible growth, as I learn what it looks like to cast out fear with the perfect love of my God, as well as trust that he brings us blessings to bless us. If there is one thing I have learned, it is the truth that God is constant, pursuing us in all places at all times, the same yesterday and today and forever. He knows what and who we need at the time that we need it. And I find that incredibly beautiful.
So today, I am thanking God for Adam and the way that his life blesses other peoples'. |
