Tonight I went to a little organic grocery store in town to buy some ice cream. While I was there, I walked down the chocolate aisle (which is somewhere I never go without leaving with something in my hands.) So naturally, I perused the different kinds of chocolates, looking for what kind was going to suit my fancy tonight. I'm a dark chocolate person, without a hesitation, and conveniently, so is Laura.
Who's Laura, you say? Well, I'm glad you asked. Laura is one of my favorite people ever to have walked this earth, without a doubt, and she makes my heart so happy. Right now, she's making people happy over in the lovely land of Germany, because Jesus is using her in really neat ways over there.
What's funny is that I didn't meet Laura until about the last month of school last year. No kidding. It's a strange thing, to be able to connect that well with a person and love them that much in just a matter of weeks. But it happened. Jesus works in really cool ways through the people we come in contact with, knowing who is going to make our hearts sing. And that's who Laura is to me. I learned a whole lot from her in those last few weeks of school, and throughout the summer I got to see her a couple of times too. She knows more about me than a lot of people do, and that's a pretty big deal, as I'm not one to share my heart so easily. Without trying, she has given me guidance and shown me what it means to go on an adventure with Jesus. She shows me what it looks like to love others selflessly. She points out things in me that I don't see in myself. She loves me really well.
So that's why, tonight as I walked down the chocolate aisle, I just felt an overwhelming feeling of, "Wow, do I ever wish Laura was here." But she's pretty darn far away. So I bought the 71% fair trade organic chocolate for the both of us, just like I would if she was going to come to my room later and watch Pride and Prejudice. I miss you, Lil' T. Have some German chocolate for me.
