Every day at noon, I walk over the bridge to the lovely land of Haas. It is there that I spend an hour of my life every day dedicated to making beautiful music with 67 other members of the UWEC Concert Choir. You see, it's this really unique time of day where we come together and share our lives together through this miraculous music that constantly amazes me.
Of course, that's not to say that it's easy- let me tell you, I spend more time working on Concert Choir than almost all of my other classes. Doc expects a lot of us, and rightly so. It is our job to do well, and the best part is, we want to do well. We want to sing well, and make the music more than just notes on a page. Today's rehearsal held some sort of extra weight, like everyone in the room was wearing their heart on their sleeve. Or maybe it was just me. Who knows. But I know that as we sang Entreat Me Not to Leave You, there was more than one pair of eyes that were wet. It's hard not to feel, when the way that a song is written almost pulls it out of you. I think it's really special, because each person in that room has a story. Each person crying has a reason. Each of us bring such a different perspective, and each of us bring our different hurts. No matter how you see it. And that's just really beautiful to me.
I just really like every day at noon, because it's a time when I really can allow myself to feel deeply. And it's not as though this is the only time I get to express myself through song- I sing quite a lot. But there's something really special about every day at noon over in the choir room that really gets to me. I'm thankful for the people in that room, for the sounds that come out of it, and for the rawness of my heart while I'm in it. So there ya have it. That's what I do every day at noon.
